Six2Six: ft. Constant Deviants

My collection is full of Constant Deviants releases and it's about time to fill the gap the "Diamond" LP left.

In 1998, when Constant Deviants were fresh on the scene, the duo of M.I. and DJ Cutt released the track “Can’t Stop” .

Now, 14 years later and with their latest album "Diamond", Constant Deviants are revisiting the track with a sequel, of sorts, fittingly titled “Won’t Stop.”

The LP is limited to 100 copies on traditional black wax, probably only available for a short time after the release of this blogpost. Act fast and combine it with the two other Six2Six Records releases available now, promoted in the two posts before this one.

The LP is limited to 100 copies on traditional black wax, probably only available for a short time after the release of this blogpost.

Six2Six: ft. M.I.

Mr. Impossible is M.I. of Constant Deviants. He says "Psychadelic 60's refers to the time of social, musical and artistic change influenced by encouraged unity, the breaking down of boundaries, the heightening of political awareness, empathy with others, and the questioning of authority."

Anyhow the 1960s was a decade of social revolution full of historical movements, new technology, and popular culture. It was also considered the Psychedelic Era because of the commonly initiated drug influence. Psychedelic tendencies altered the artwork, films, and music of this time period.

The album got first available as part of a cassette store day bundle release. A very limited vinyl edition of 100 copies is now available - probably for a short time only. Also check the two more records offered by Six2Six Records now, you can find it in the next blogposts.

Golden Era: GERV-027 ft. Hilltop Hoods

Golden Era Records is an Australian Hip Hop label founded by Hilltop Hoods based out of Adelaide. The label's first release came out in 2009 with the Hilltop Hoods debut album "State Of The Art".

The relatively local distribution of their releases makes it a bit tricky to catch them and so today the early releases are offered as collector items for collector prices. Some LPs got repressed, partly on colored vinyl but still cost serious money.

This year the label participated the Australian Record Store Day (RSD). After 2015 Hilltop Hoods in collaboration with The Funkoars, A.B. Original, Briggs, Vents, K21 and Purpose releases a new version of "Golden Era Cypher" pressed on gold colored 10" vinyl.

Produced by Snowgoons

Check out the earlier versions from 2015, 2014, 2013, ...

Chopped Herring: CHSLOV4501 ft. Shawn Lov

Chopped Herring Records and Shawn Lov present 4 tracks from Shawn Lov's 14th and final album. The Trenton MC provided tracks from 1989 - 1996 that were recorded at his father's studio - actually the same studio where Courageous Chief, Royal Family, Soul Survivors, and Shakespeare & Last Empire recorded their grails.

Being from Trenton you might guess Shawn Lov was down with legendary Tony D [R.I.P.] and yes he was. Tony D mentored Shawn until his untimely passing and produced and featured on some of Shawn's recordings.

However included on this project are beats from Shawn himself as well as the excellent The Custodian Of Records and German beatmaker Raiden.

Columbia: 88985383697 ft. Big L

Everyday is "recordstoreday" and Apr. 22nd was the 10th anniversary of the "official RSD". While people all over the world have mixed feelings about RSD I decided not to spend my day in record stores.

In general I appreciate that physical stores get attention and support from vinyl enthusiasts, however over the years the mainstream came back on the vinyl scene and now are taking all the capacities from pressing plants just to repress another repress - independent labels are often screwed ...

To me it's like receiving a call once a year of a person to congratulate me to my birthday. If it needs a special day to appreciate someone / something, you better leave it.

As a huge Big L and D.I.T.C. fan it's a must from me to put the "Devil's Son EP (From The Vaults)" on the blog. For those, who collected all the early Big L pressings, also the bootlegs, there is nothing super special on this EP but it's official and should therefore deliver a proper sound quality.

In total 3000 copies got pressed by Columbia / Legacy. The black wax comes housed in a full color picture sleeve with red hype sticker. This record was only available in the US for RSD 2017.

A: Devil's Son
A: Devil's Son (Instrumental)

Smoke On: SOR-1009 ft. Buckwild

In 2007 Ground Floor Records released Buckwild's "Rare Studio Masters: 1993 - 1997"  compilation on 2CD, just on the wrong format.

The premium producer album features many famous but also some independent songs produced and remixed by D.I.T.C. member Buckwild. The list of MCs Buckwild worked with is long and to get those 39 tracks it needs a few more LPs.

Smoke On Records fulfills the strong demand and presses the album on gold colored 4LP housed in full color picture sleeve.
